Lynmar Estate
A 100-acre sanctuary on Frei Road in the heart of the Russian River Valley, where estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay meet farm-to-table food pairings in one of the most graciously designed tasting experiences in Sonoma County.
Lynmar Estate describes itself as the jewel box of the Russian River Valley, and a visit proves the point. The 100-acre property in Sebastopol encompasses vineyards, native grass meadows, flower beds, vegetable and herb gardens, an orchard, and a nature preserve — all farmed sustainably and all feeding directly into the wines and food pairings guests enjoy on the estate.
Estate roots and a commitment to place
Lynmar Estate sits on Frei Road in Sebastopol, one of the cooler, foggier pockets of the Russian River Valley where Pacific marine air arrives first each morning. The estate has been family-owned since its founding, built around the idea that a great wine experience should engage every sense: the beauty of the landscape, the flavors of the food grown alongside the vines, and the wines themselves.
The property was developed with long-term sustainable stewardship at the center. Biodiversity flourishes here, from native grasses to resident raptors that patrol the vineyard for rodents. The winery holds California Sustainable Winegrowing certification, and the gardens that surround the tasting rooms are maintained with the same rigor as the vines.
Lynmar grows everything on the estate: the grapes, the herbs, the vegetables, and the flowers — all of it feeding directly into the tasting experience.

The Russian River Valley AVA is shaped by marine fog that funnels inland through the Petaluma Gap each morning, dropping temperatures across the valley floor and delaying grape ripening by weeks compared to warmer Sonoma sub-regions. Frei Road in Sebastopol sits close to where that marine influence is strongest, giving Lynmar fruit a naturally high acidity and fine-grained structure.
The estate vineyard is planted primarily to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on a combination of Goldridge sandy loam and heavier clay soils. Both soil types appear in the final wines: Goldridge contributes elegance and aromatics, clay adds weight and aging potential. The slow season, cool nights, and attentive farming result in wines with real tension between fruit and structure.
The wines and what they taste like
Lynmar produces estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as the centerpieces of its lineup, alongside a dry Rose and sparkling wines. The Pinot Noirs range from approachable, fruit-forward bottles to more serious single-vineyard expressions from specific blocks on the property. The Chardonnay shows the cool-climate character of Frei Road: bright acidity, stone fruit and citrus rather than tropical notes, and a texture that is rich without being heavy.
The Advocates Club offers members priority access to the most limited wines in the portfolio along with invitations to exclusive estate events. Walk-in tastings are available, but the curated experiences with food pairings are the best way to understand what Lynmar is building.

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir pairs with a wide range of foods because its moderate tannins and lively acidity bridge the gap between red and white wine territory. Lynmar Pinot Noir is well suited to duck confit, salmon, mushroom-forward dishes, pork tenderloin, and soft, earthy cheeses. The tannins in Pinot Noir bind with proteins but do not overwhelm them; the acidity cuts through the richness of duck fat or a cream-based sauce.
The Chardonnay is the natural partner for the produce from the estate garden: grilled scallops, roasted corn risotto, halibut with lemon butter, or simply a plate of summer vegetables from the property orchard. High acidity in the wine brightens fat and keeps rich dishes from feeling heavy.
