The Russian River Valley AVA is shaped by marine fog that pours inland from the Pacific each morning through the Petaluma Gap, cooling the valley floor and delaying grape ripening compared to warmer Sonoma sub-regions. This extended growing season builds acidity and aromatic complexity that defines the finest Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays from this part of California.

Westside Road in Healdsburg runs through one of the most densely planted stretches of premium Russian River Valley vineyard land. The soils here shift between Goldridge sandy loam on the flats and heavier clay benchland on the slopes. Arista works with multiple sites along this corridor and beyond, selecting each for its contribution to the final wine.
